About Dr. Trent Proffitt

Dr. Trent L. Proffitt earned his Doctoral Degree in Medicine from the University of Illinois in 1996. He completed five years of general surgery training at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and remained there after being awarded a year-long endovascular fellowship at the first accredited Endovascular Fellowship Program in the country. At that time, Texas Tech was one of the premiere training facilities for catheter-based interventions in the world. Dr. Proffitt was also appointed an attending trauma surgeon at the Level I Trauma Center during this time. His final year of vascular surgery training was performed at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

Dr. Proffitt’s interventional interests are not only in providing the very latest in technological advances, but also in helping to pioneer new technological applications. Based on the breadth of his minimally invasive training, he is one of only a handful of vascular surgeons capable of performing such diverse catheter-based interventions.

His minimally invasive expertise is translated into treating all aspects of vascular disease, including the treatment of peripheral arterial disease, DVTs, pulmonary emboli, symptomatic varicose veins and cosmetic spider veins.

Presenting new vascular techniques at national forums and publishing research in the Journal of Vascular Surgery are among Dr. Proffitt’s continuing contributions to this field. He has been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and was voted by the Consumer Research Council of America as one of America’s top vascular surgeons in 2007. He is currently the Medical Director of the Wound Center at Baylor Medical Center at Garland.

Dr. Proffitt’s personal interests include fitness, theoretical physics and marine aquariums.
