About Dr. Mark Bailey
Dr. Bailey was born September 4, 1959 in Baytown, Texas, the fifth of eight children. As a young boy, he dreamed of becoming a doctor and using his skills to help other people. He chose the field of surgery because of a desire to have an immediate positive impact on a patient’s health.
Dr. Bailey attended high school at Robert E. Lee in Baytown, where he graduated third in a class of 428. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated cum laude. After earning his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1986, he continued his surgical training at the same institution, studying with some of the pioneers in surgery including Dr. Michael DeBakey and Dr. George Jordan, Jr. Upon completion of his five-year surgical training program, he entered private practice in 1991 and has devoted his efforts to the care of patients in Garland and the surrounding communities.
His time away from the hospital is spent raising his five children, including a set of all boy triplets. He enjoys fishing, hockey, tennis, and outdoor activities.
